Vox AC30VR Guitar Amp
One of the titans of the amp-building world, Vox have a legacy most companies only dream of. First established in 1947, Vox have an artist roster that includes Brian May, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain, Tom Petty, The Edge, Hank Marvin and Ritchie Blackmore amongst countless others.
The AC30 combo really is THE Vox amp. Known as the sound that powered the 1960’s “British Invasion”, the AC30 has been inexorably weaved into the very fabric of Rock ‘n’ Roll for decades.
A two channel, EL84-based, 30-watt British-voiced design this model comes loaded with two Celestion G12M Greenback speakers, warm spring reverb, tremolo and an effects loop.
Both channels have independent volume controls and the Top Boost channel has the addition of two highly interactive treble and bass controls. This allows you to dial in your tone to suit your specific rig, whether it be getting the sparkle out of your Stratocaster or the grunt out of your Les Paul.
In the “Master” section, we have controls for Volume and Tone Cut. Tone Cut is another EQ shaping device that operates in the power stage of the amp’s circuit rather than the preamp. The master volume controls the overall output of the amp but more importantly, allows proper gain staging of the Normal and Top Boost channels.
The AC30 also comes with “Tone” and “Level” controls on the Reverb section of the amp as well as “Speed” and “Depth” controls on the Tremolo section. This allows you to “season to taste” with these classic onboard effects
Tonally, this amp excels at everything from chimey “Vox” cleans to raucous overdrive to searing Brian May-style leads. The addition of an effects loop and the amp’s foot-switching capabilities make it incredibly versatile. This is your opportunity to own a living, breathing, roaring piece of music history!
